We are Branford Youth CheerUpdated Thursday June 2, 2016 by Scott Villa.
Branford Youth Cheerleading (BYC) is part of the Shoreline Youth Football Conference. Made up of athletes in grades 2-8, cheerleaders foster town pride and display an attitude that promotes teamwork and respect within our community.
The group’s mission statement is “to support as many athletic events as possible and promote a positive game-day atmosphere for Branford Youth athletes with a sense of enthusiasm, pride, teamwork, and integrity”
Last fall the BYC developed a competitive youth team for athletes (grades 6-8.) and an exhibition team (grades 1-2). These athletes pushed themselves physically and mentally, fine tuning their tumbling skills and developing routines for local and state competitions.
All their hard work and devotion paid off on October 2015 when the Senior Squad (grades 6-8) competed in their very first local competition at the Shoreline Youth Football Conference. Branford took 1st place in their division and continued that momentum by placing 3rd in the American Youth Cheer State Competition.
You’ll be seeing a lot more of our Cheerleaders around Branford this summer supporting the community with clothing and can drives and holding fundraisers like a carwash and pail shakes at local stores. Be sure to come out and show your support.
